Not much has changed when it comes to make-up; I still stick to neutral colours and a natural, matte finish. I avoid vibrant, unnatural colours and generally stick to earthy browns, nude shades, and occasionally introduce soft metallics or burgundy hues. With lipstick I swing from either total coverage with strong, bold reds or easy-going lip butters with a hint of buildable colour.
The huge change has come with the confidence to ditch make-up altogether whenever I feel like it. If I am working in the studio or not leaving the house, I often forgo make-up completely, and if it's a quick trip to run errands I dab on a little concealer to hide those sleepy eyes instead of a full face of make-up.
I also streamlined my collection with the premise "less is more." I now have a minimal selection of products with each piece working effectively and in exactly the way I want it to. I've realised what is worth spending money on and what isn't quite so important. I am much more cautious with my money, buying less and placing a huge importance on not wasting anything.
The Lily Lolo foundation is my absolute favourite. I love how it tames my oily complexion without making me look to matte. It just leaves a gorgeous glow!

ReplyDeleteGood for you to ditch makeup completely ! Now that it's summer for me, I mostly swim and work--and I work teaching swim lessons--so makeup is pretty much reserved for weekends and special occasions. Despite blogging a lot about beauty, I'm ok with not wearing makeup all the time. Plus when I do wear it, I have so much fun getting all dolled up.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with that mindset for make-up. I don't like waste at all, and I'd rather use all of one product then waste 3 bottles of the same thing because I couldn't use it all. I think there's definitely a phase we all go through were we all feel like we have to have every lipstick or eyeshadow palette, but now I'd rather put my money towards a car or holiday than another 7 pink lipsticks. On that note though, Russian Red is my favourite red lip of all time!!
