Creative Ways to Use Snapchat

Snapchat is the fastest growing social media platform ever with over 100 million daily extremely engaged users, 71% falling into the 18 to 34 age range. There is plenty of scope for playing with the platform’s features to create exciting content to engage your audience and grow your brand, blog, and business.

Snapchat is unlike previous social networking apps, not only is there a time constraint on the content you share, the type of content being shared is different. Users are encouraged to share more candid, off-the-cuff snaps without the fussy curation of say, Instagram; the focus is on spontaneity.

Snapchat is by far my favourite social media and I love that I can use the same account for sending both personal (snaps to friends-only) and business purposes (add snaps to a story.) It’s spontaneous and fun, and feels a lot more genuine.

If you’re unsure whether you should be using Snapchat, here are some creative ways you can use it that might change your mind.

Creative Ways to Use Snapchat
Tell a Story

Share snaps from your daily life as a blogger, designer-maker, or freelancer by sharing snaps from behind the scenes at your studio or office. Create a story from morning to evening sharing photographs and videos of the projects you’re working on, exclusive sneak peeks at upcoming content or products, and general day-to-day life.

Deliver Exclusive Content

Just like with other social media platforms, providing exclusive content is a great way to encourage people to engage with your account. Telling a story is a fantastic way of sharing content that wouldn’t usually be shared elsewhere online, however, offering more enticing content is always encouraged. Build anticipation by sharing previews of new content or products, host a giveaway, offer perks, and share exclusive promotions only available on Snapchat.

Get Personal

If you’re feeling a little cut off from your viewers, reach out to them and engage on a personal level. Snapchat doesn’t always have to be about adding more and more content to your story. Snap content, products, or design ideas and ask viewers what they think; ask for feedback and reply on a personal level. You could even ask viewers to screen grab their favourites to vote. Snapchat was built for one-on-one engagement so it’s super easy to create a more personal social media experience.
