I am not very educated when it comes to the history of art - it's not typically my thing; I like what I like and I can be quite fickle about it. Paintings that are either super bright with luscious colourings or intensely dark, there is no in between for me. I don't mind wasting a few hours in a gallery because they are quite peaceful things and there is always something to fall in love with - MoMA was no exception. The Henri Matisse exhibition was glorious and the "art arcade" was a lot of fun to play with.
love that popova piece! i'd love to go to moma one day.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to visit one day, these pieces are so captivating!

I want to visit a art exhibition one day, its is always fascinating to see art in person, not just online or in pictures.
ReplyDeleteOh I want to go there too next time. Did you ask for permission to make these photos, or how do you handle it?

Oh man, I cried in front of that Jackson Pollock, what a beauty. I found the MOMA to be overwhelming-- so many people everywhere. I think I went over a holiday but judging from your photos it looks as if you had a peaceful afternoon wandering around.
ReplyDeleteI watched the most bizarre live art performance in moma. Lady playing piano whilst being inside it and moving it... Totally stuck with me though!
ReplyDeleteWell this gallery looks like my cup of tea! I haven't been to one in ages now sadly. The last one two I went to was in the same day down in London, I visited the Saatchi Gallery and the Tate Modern, of which the latter wasn't really my thing. The Saatchi Gallery however was awesome, I discovered Franz Ackerman there which led me to using his work for my A Level Art project, gosh that was a long time ago!
ReplyDeleteI can't say I'm that educated in history art either, but I do love a good gallery. I just get so memorised, it takes my breath away!

MoMA seems amazing. I love spending a few hours wandering around looking at art.

It really was a beautiful, peaceful place
ReplyDeleteI'm the same - I know virtually nothing about art (although Jack is like a tour guide!) but I enjoy looking at the painting.
ReplyDeleteIt really is beautiful. I have seen the Mona Lisa.. it's an.. incredible experience. The painting itself is TINY and so many people fill the room it's crazy.. I think I preferred the experience of seeing so many overwhelmed people, people moved to tears because of this painting, than I did the actual painting itself.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds.. weird..
ReplyDeleteIt was really quiet, to be honest. I mean there were a lot of people but it wasn't PACKED, and I could easily take photographs without people getting in the way :))
ReplyDeleteNope, you're allowed to take photographs :)) In the Matisse exhibit you couldn't take photographs but everywhere else you could.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, I agree.
ReplyDeleteSome of the painting were just.. BEAUTIFUL
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to go! :))
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cool. It's not so usual I think. Thanks for the reply. : )
ReplyDeleteI love museums; in high school I studied history of art, and I had an awesome and very passionate teacher that managed to keep the interest of a bunch of teenagers and inject her passion on us. I'm not an expert by any means and I can't remember much of what she taught me back then, but I still keep that liking for art, museums and the likes.
ReplyDeleteI can understand that Sophie, I mean it is so incredibly famous and to this day it still keeps people intrigued; to think it was even stolen once! I really would like to go and see it, I can't imagine seeing it for myself as it is such a monumental piece of history :)
ReplyDeleteMoMA is one of those places I'd love to visit in the future. Your photos are so lovely!
