These hair ties are super soft and stretchy, meaning they won't snag or leave a dent when you tie it up, and they're super easy and cheap to make - 1 metre of elastic (99p) will give you four 9-inch bands. I made a bunch of these in lovely pastel colours to give to friends as a little gift and I made a neutral set for myself.

All you need is:
» 5/8″ foldover elastic
» scissors
» measuring tape/ruler
» needle and thread (optional)

How to make the ties:
» measure 9-inches of elastic
» fold it in half
» make a knot
» secure knot with a couple of stitches (optional)
These soft hair ties are my favourite, they're so much better at preventing hair breakage! Have been meaning to buy some more but this DIY looks so simple I might try making my own - not to mention they are usually quite pricey in store!

Youll save much more when you do it yourself rather than buying on malls. Thumbs up!

So creative!
ReplyDeleteSo simple, yet so pretty. I like the idea of giving them as gifts. And your scissors are absolutely gorgeous! I've never seen a pair with such detail x

You know, I never understood why there are so many shops selling these ties. They are SO simple to make. And, as you said, not expensive. We buy 1 hair tie at a shop when we could make 5 of them with that money.
ReplyDeleteThey are super cute! :)
Awesome idea! So easy to make and you can just tell how cute they'll look :)
ReplyDeleteI love these scissors! Where did you get them?
ReplyDeleteeBay! :))

ReplyDeleteSame! They are SO EXPENSIVE in shops and they cost pennies to make.
ReplyDeleteThank you :))
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteThey totally do - I like matching them with outfits.
ReplyDeleteTotally - they cost pennies to make.
ReplyDeleteThey're so easy to make and they're much nicer than standard hair bands.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, especially when you've got long hair that tends to get tangled..
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea :) So simple but I'd have never thought of it - will be making a bunch of these to bring with me on holiday! x
