Spring is officially here. As the cold, dark nights make way for longer days and warmer weather, the new season brings a sense of renewal, transformation, growth, and celebration.

Springtime is my favourite season. I love the combination of bright sunshine and crisp air, and seeing the world burst into life with fresh growth. Spring feels like a new beginning that gives me an abundance of energy and restores my focus. It's an opportunity for us to embrace new routines and habits that encourage growth and self-improvement.

If you're eager to welcome the vibrancy of this new season and renew your energy, spring is the perfect opportunity to adjust your life so it makes you more content and fulfilled - here's how:



Make Steps In The Right Direction

Consider how you feel mentally, physically, and emotionally right now. Identify the things you're struggling with or any areas of your life that need a little extra attention. Focusing on the pain points in your life will help you decide what areas of self-care you need to focus on the most. Think about how you feel from day-to-day, if your diet is nourishing you, if your work is empowering you, if your friendships are lifting you, and if you're making enough time for what's most important to you.

The purpose of self-care is to make space for yourself so you can improve your mental, physical, and emotional states and to set achievable goals that will improve your life. Make sure any goals you set for yourself and self-directed and not dictated by the expectations of others.

If your diet isn't nourishing you, make changes to how and what you eat; learn new recipes and try new dishes. If you're feeling isolated, make plans with friends or discover ways to meet new people. If you're feeling stressed, take time off; consider what daily habits you could adopt to improve your stress levels. If you're feeling unfit, find a new way to exercise that you enjoy. If a friendship is toxic, cut ties.

When you've identified the sticking points or tension in your life, hone in on what needs urgent attention. Taking affirmative and immediate action to tackle those hurdles enables you to take back control of your life. When you've made decisions to change what is making you unhappy, you'll feel a sense of empowerment and be more likely to make lasting changes.

Spring cleaning might be a cliche but it certainly works. Spring presents the perfect opportunity to let go of things that are no longer serving you. Refreshing your home decor, switching up your beauty routine, and renewing your wardrobe will help you to embrace the sense of a new start that spring brings.

Your emotional space is just as important as your physical one. Let go of not just the clutter you own but any unhealthy habits, negative relationships, and poor eating patterns that are impacting your life.



Discover Meditation That Works For You

Traditional meditation techniques aren't for everyone. If the spiritual element of meditation is a little woo-woo for you, try yoga, long walks, mindfulness, or star-gazing. Choose an activity that allows you sit peacefully or requires low-impact exercise so that you can reflect on your thoughts, feelings, and emotions.

Meditation provides you with headspace to slow down, stop over-thinking, and work through the thing you're feeling. It's a time to relax and reflect; for your entire body and mind to power down and rejuvenate. You could use mindfulness apps to help guide you or simply find your own method of meditation, whatever works for you to relax, unwind, and focus.

We often find ourselves couped up in doors all winter, unable and unwilling to spend too long outdoors. As the snow melts and the days become warmer and brighter, there are few excuses for staying inside. A breath of fresh air and a little exercise can be enough to break any feelings of overwhelm helping you to step out of a bad headspace.

Activities that are perfect for spring include travelling, hiking, camping, flying a kite, watching the sunset, visiting outdoor museums, going on a bike ride, day trips and staycations, picnics on the beach or in the park, and nature walks on reserves.

Eat To Nourish Your Body and Mind

Becoming aware of the diet you have and making considered choices about the food you eat becomes a healthy way of influencing your body and mind. Your diet the first step to making healthier life choices and introducing a new method of self-care into your life. Make shopping effortless.

This spring, start shopping at your local market more frequently to pick up more fresh fruit and vegetables. Eating seasonally is a beautiful way to bring that spring energy into your life, giving your body and mind a boost of nutrients. Try to incorporate new foods into your diet and test out new recipes.



Grow Something

Embrace spring by planting something and watching it flourish. Start a vegetable patch, rent an allotment, grow some flowers, or if you don't own any land, there's nothing stopping you from indoor gardening. Use your windowsills to grow herbs, chilies or sprouts for your salads or bring some new plants into your home.

Growing something, tending to it, and watching it develop is an incredibly satisfying and empowering experience. If you're new to gardening try some easy to care for houseplants or simple herbs to grow before moving onto something more challenging.
