Sophie Davies, writer covering sustainable living, personal style, and slow travel

Hello, I'm Sophie Davies.

Freelance writer and jeweller, based in Birmingham, UK.

I help you build a life—and a wardrobe—that feels intentional, wearable, and entirely your own. One that doesn’t rely on constant shopping or chasing trends, but on learning how to actually use what you already have.

About A Considered Life

A Considered Life is a style-focused lifestyle blog about sustainable living, fashion, and travel.

It’s where I explore the wider picture of living more consciously: how we dress, how we consume, how we move through the world, and how to make all of it feel more aligned and less overwhelming.

Expect ideas that explore:

  • Sustainable fashion and personal style
  • Simple, eco-friendly living
  • Thoughtful, low-impact travel
  • Building a wardrobe and lifestyle you actually enjoy

No perfection. No rigid rules. Just real-world ways to approach style, consumption, and everyday living with more intention.

My Substack

Over on Substack, I write something more focused.

A Considered Style is about fashion, full stop.

It goes deeper into personal style, wardrobe behaviour, and the psychology of getting dressed. Personal essays, practical guides, and useful downloads for people who love clothes but are done with overconsumption.

If A Considered Life is the wider world, A Considered Style is the wardrobe itself.

Who I Am

I'm Sophie Davies, a writer and jeweller based in Birmingham, UK.

I've spent over a decade exploring what it means to live more intentionally through what we wear, what we buy, how we travel, and how we spend our time.

My journey started with sustainable fashion, but it quickly became about much more than clothes.

In 2012, I founded Oh My Clumsy Heart after struggling to find jewellery that was affordable, well-made, and environmentally conscious. So I started making it myself.

Running a small business forced me to think differently about consumption. It made me question not just what I was buying, but why I was buying it. That curiosity eventually spilled into every area of my life.

At one point, I swung hard in the direction of minimalism. I decluttered relentlessly, simplified everything, and became convinced that owning less was always the answer. While some of those changes genuinely improved my life, others left me feeling restricted by rules I'd created for myself.

Over time, I realised that intentional living isn't about having the smallest wardrobe, the emptiest home, or the fewest possessions. It's about understanding what adds value to your life and making room for more of it.

That philosophy shapes everything I write about today—from sustainable fashion and capsule wardrobes to simple living, mindful consumption, and slower, more meaningful travel.

Alongside writing, I still run Oh My Clumsy Heart and share more personal style essays on Substack.

A Considered Life is where all those interests come together. It's a place for practical ideas, honest reflections, and a reminder that living more intentionally doesn't have to mean living perfectly.
