An All-Seasons Loungewear Capsule

Up until recently my loungewear was a selection of items I'd downgraded from my everyday wardrobe. I'd ended up with a mismatched choices of slightly worn out clothing that I was barely comfortable wearing around my apartment, let alone wearing outside. The pandemic really highlighted the need for more comfortable wardrobe with outfits that can be worn both indoors and out.

A couple of loungewear sets - shorts and a t-shirt, a sweatshirt and joggers - is better than lots of individual pieces pulled from your existing wardrobe. In the past my loungewear would never leave the house. Now I need to get dressed quickly to take the dog out early, and I don't want to look a mess while doing it. My new daily requires loungewear that is quick to put on and easy to wear. Great quality basics, made to last after countless washes, by brands whose clothes fit me well.

My loungewear leans into athletic clothing and away from sleepwear. Each of the pieces I've included in my loungewear capsule can be mixed and matched, covering all bases from warm weather to cool. I wear these outfits to lounge around my house in as well as to run errands or go for brunch. Adding extra touches, like minimal jewellery, helps elevate loungewear, taking them from house clothes to casual work-wear.

  • Everlane Track Cropped Sweatshirt
  • Everlane Track Jogger
  • Everlane Perform Leggings
  • Everlane Track Sweatshorts
  • Everlane Weekend Tee
  • Organic Basics Mid-Weight Cropped Sweat
  • Organic Basics Mid-Weight Sweatpants
  • Organic Basics Tencel Lite Tee
  • Organic Basics Tencel Lite Shorts
  • Organic Basics Tencel Lite T-Shirt Dress
  • Girlfriend Collective RnR Hoodie
  • MUJI Fleece Zip Jacket
  • Birkenstock Amsterdam Slippers
  • Birkenstock Madrid Slides

  • The set I wear the most is my Everlane Track Jogger and Everlane Track Cropped Sweatshirt set. It's a set I'm comfortable enough to step outside in without feeling sloppy while remaining super comfy to work from home in. The fit is perfect for me. The joggers are made from organic cotton french terry with a high rise elastic waistband, relaxed tapered leg, and side pockets (necessary!) The sweatshirt has dropped shoulder, a cropped, slightly relaxed (but not sloppy) fit and a mock neckline that makes it a touch smarter than other sweatshirt options. I can easily wear this with other outfits and you'd never notice it was from a track set.

For indoors, I have a pair of Everlane Track Shorts. I sized up a couple of sizes for a really roomy loose fit. They're perfect for throwing on right after waking up along with a baggy tee or thin jumper. The same can be said for the Everlane Weekend Dress.

My stay-at-home sweat set is from Organic Basics. I have the Mid-Weight Cropped Sweat and Mid-Weight Sweatpants in the colour Cedar. It was a tough choice between the pink and yellow. I find Organic Basics tends to run small so I sized up hoping for a looser fit and ended up with an oversized one, which suits me just fine. It's good to have the option of a roomier set for lounging at home in. Bear this in mind when ordering, and consider sizing down. You can save money buying the Mid-Weight Sweat Pack or the Mid-Weight Sweat-Hood Pack.

Organic Basics have a Tencel Set with Tencel Lite Tees and Tencel Lite Shorts in eight colours. I have the black set. They're ideal as nightwear, lounging at home, wearing to the beach, after taking a wild swim, or on casual day trips. The fabric is lightweight and soft with a cooling feel making them a good choice for a warm weather loungewear set. Another excellent choice if shorts aren't really your thing is the Organic Basics Tencel Lite T-Shirt Dress. It has a loose-fit with an A-Line cut that makes the fabric drape beautifully. I sized up for a flowing fit that would make it more appropriate choice for summer.

If I'm leaving the house, my Birkenstock Slides are a great 'throw on and go' option. If I'm staying indoors, these Birkenstock Slippers are amazing. The only bag I've been using lately is the Everlane Woven Crossbody. It's discreet yet practical, and roomy enough for all the daily essentials.

I have a few extra pieces in my capsule, like a MUJI Fleece, Everlane Perform Leggings, and Girlfriend Collective RnR Hoodie. These items make my loungewear options a little more varied and much more versatile.
