Styling a Puffer Jacket with Superdry

This is an advert in collaboration with Superdry.

Puffer jackets have trended on and off since the 90s, when the duvet-style coats first became a popular outerwear choice. Their popularity never really waned either. They've transitioned from sports attire to everyday wear, making them a timeless wardrobe staple worth investing in.

Puffer coats offer a mix of style and practicality that makes them hard not to love. These plush, oversized coats make winter weather not just bearable but comfortable. Although intended as athleisure wear; in recent years, puffers have transitioned into a more versatile wardrobe staple.

With clever styling, a puffer coat can be worn with everything from streetwear to tailored clothing. Current options include longline puffer coats, cropped jackets, and parkas. So whatever your outfit, there's a puffer coat to wear with it.

I truly embraced the “I’d-rather-be-in-bed” vibe of the last few years. Comfort and practicality was essential, especially after getting a dog. I needed reliable utilitarian outfits that were cosy and looked good as I was racing out the door.

I wasn't convinced puffer jackets were for me. But with so many styles, from comically oversized coats to low-key neutral designs, there is a puffer coat for everyone. The key is choosing the right outerwear to match your existing wardrobe and knowing how to style it.

I lean heavily into 90s athleisure when styling the Ripstop Longline Puffer Jacket. Worn with leggings, joggers, or even bike shorts with a matching sweatshirt and trainers, it's become my go-to laid-back outfit. Best worn on an early morning dog walk or even to a casual brunch with friends.

The key details that make this particular coat just right is found in the details. The light padding makes it cosy to wear without appearing bulky or feeling cumbersome. While the subtle football grid pattern gives the jacket a softer appearance. Designed with a two-way zip and detachable hood, it's easy to style this coat in multiple ways.

What I particularly love about the Superdry Ripstop Longline Puffer Jacket is its eco-friendly credentials. Unlike the puffer coats of the 90s, which were filled with down feathers. Superdry use 100% recycled padding for their range of puffer coats. Each jacket contains between 5 and 48 plastic bottles, and produces the same quality and warmth of traditional puffers without the waste.
