I've kept this one pretty quiet: we're going to New York next week!
For my 30th birthday in July, Jack bought us a trip to New York. We always talked about going on holiday to NYC for Halloween, so what better excuse is there than turning 30? I've visited several places in the US but never New York, so I am incredibly excited. I have been dreaming of visiting the Natural History Museum, dressing up as a spook, eating all the delicious food, and getting lost in Sephora.
I've scheduled daily posts while I am away but I'd love it if you came along for the ride by joining us both on Instagram where we will be sharing our adventure (my Instagram and Jack's Instagram).
Have fun in New York!

Yay, so exciting! I can't wait to see what you get at Sephora!
ReplyDeleteYou probably don't want to use the word spook in the USA.
ReplyDeletehave a fab time! can't wait to see you pack/visit/photograph!!!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, awesome post! u am a new York obsessive (just absolutely love the place), and have spent probably three weeks in total there over three different trips. I'd highly recommend shopping/wandering the soho/noho areas, and walking bleeker street... And walking the loop from manhatten, over manhatten bridge and returning the walk over Brooklyn bridge... But then I'm a structure / building /bridge lover... Enough it all!!!! I'm mega excited for you! (plus the exchange rate for us is pretty great at the moment too!!)
ReplyDeleteYAY. What a treat. New York is wonderful. I hope you have a great time.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the suggestions; I prefer to do the non-touristy stuff so admiring the architecture is a fantastic suggestion! Oooh.. I didn't know that about the exchange rate (yeahh, I'm leaving getting my dollar sorted pretty late..)
ReplyDeleteThank you - I'm excited to share all the fun stuff when I get back!
ReplyDeleteIt's only racist if you think it's racist.
ReplyDeleteIt was OBVIOUSLY meant and used in the traditional sense: ghost, spectre, ghoul because that is THE MOST commonly understood meaning of the word.
Me too! Although I'm not thinking of picking up too much stuff to be honest. Make-up is make-up wherever you go.. but I will buy a few treats!
ReplyDeleteThank you~~
ReplyDeleteI love this backpack and I think (aside from a simple tote) it's the only bag I'm going to take.
I will DEFINITELY be instagramming everything! And thank you, I'm sure I'll have an amazing time!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, AMAZING! If you have any suggestions that would be fantastic, thank you! We're not keen on doing the tourist-y things so suggestions from New Yorkers would be great.
ReplyDeleteHaha, sorry! I was utterly surprised though - I totally wasn't expecting it!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteI know, I know - I am SO EXCITED right now!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Madeline!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your pics, I'm sure you'll have a greaaat time and I have to say that you're very lucky, I would loooooove to go to NYC hahaha. Enjoy :))

happy birthday and have a great time...I look forward to seeing the photos
ReplyDeleteI don't know what kind of mascara you prefer, but my favorite is Punker by Ardency Inn. It's not carried at the Sephora locations in my city, so I order it online, but it is in the NYC stores. It's the only mascara that has ever made me look like I'm wearing false lashes.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I'd love to see your upcoming photos. Hoping for you guys to have a great and safe trip. :)
ReplyDeleteYayyy imagine all the things you can shop for!!! Have a lovely time! xx
ReplyDeleteEeeeep! I hope you have the grandest time :D I just went in September and I can't stop thinking about when I can go back.
ReplyDeletefun! i love new york :) enjoy your trip!

ReplyDeleteCosmetics and skincare over there is so much better than here...
Also staten island ferry, simplest and best way to get out on the water :-)
I am VERY fortunate, it was an amazing present to receive on my birthday - I'm going to appreciate every minute of it :))
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope so - I love Halloween :))
ReplyDeleteThey will be A LOT, I'm sure :))
ReplyDeleteThank you - I'll be sharing them all once I get back :))
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Krista.
ReplyDeleteI know! Although I'm more excited about the museums, I'm sure I'll pick up some treats.. ;))
ReplyDeleteYou're going to love it there! I used to vacation there every summer with my family but I stopped going with them when England became a 'thing' for me. The last time I was in NYC was in 2010 and I'm really starting to miss it. Maybe next year will be the year I go back :) xx
ReplyDeleteI am SUPER excited! :))
ReplyDeleteI know, right? AMAZING - such a perfect gift.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much
ReplyDeletePlease let me apologize. I'm not accusing you of being racist or using the word in a racist way, but it is not commonly used in the US in the way you are using it. I don't mean to offend you, but I also don't want you to be misunderstood when you are here. We use the word spooky, but we don't generally refer to ghosts as anything but ghosts. It's just not an American term. We loosely speak the same language, and unfortunately in the US, we see MANY things in racial terms. It's unfortunate, but we are not a post-racial society.
ReplyDeleteNo matter, I hope you have a great time in NYC. It's truly a fabulous place to live or to visit.
All I know is whenever I spend time with friends, I always walk around the east village. I start around union square and head on over to 3rd or 1st ave and walk down. I recommend walking around there because its full of ~hip young thangs~ and cool places to eat and look around. I recommend the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop for some nifty ice cream (I went at night on a weekend and it was super busy, but really fun), Pomme Frites (for amazing french fries and dipping sauce galore), Amorino (for amazing gelato), and getting a slice at Two Bros Pizza (because it's cheap if you need a snack). Also, of course, I recommend all of the museums (the MET, MoMA, etc). Also central park! I know it's getting chilly, but I always love a walk around central park.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate this comment and I apologise if I came across rude. I'm really looking forward to visiting New York.
ReplyDeleteYou're going to LOVE it! I went this summer and it's honestly a trip I'll never forget :)
ReplyDeleteNatural History Museum was one of my favourite places to visit when I was there, hope you have fun! Xx
