A Cold Weather Loungewear Capsule Wardrobe

A Cold Weather Loungewear Capsule Wardrobe

Over the last year, loungewear has earned itself a dedicated spot in my wardrobe.  With limited space and no real need for too many comfy house clothes, I hadn't previously given too much thought to that area of my wardrobe beyond knitwear.

I've never really been a joggers and hoodie kind of person but being stuck indoors has made me realise the appeal of traditional loungewear.  If I'm going to be stuck indoors for prolonged periods of time, I want to be comfortable but also feel well dressed.

I pieced together a cold weather loungewear capsule with comfort and versatility in mind, mostly using what I already had plus a couple of new purchases.  I wanted to feel cozy and relaxed while also feeling properly dressed and able to run errands should I need to.

Each of the items in this loungewear capsule can be mixed and matched, and while they're cold weather appropriate the outfits they create are adaptable enough to wear all year.

Knitwear

Everlane Sweatshirt
Muji Fleece Zip Jacket
Everlane Texture Cotton Cardigan

These are the warmest options for being extra cozy at home but I do also dip into my wardrobe's knitwear drawer if I want to wear something from there instead.  I find the best knitwear in charity shops or from thrifting online.  If you'd like something new or more specific, I recommend taking a look at Organic Basics, Everlane, and Baukjen.

Bottoms

Everlane Lightweight French Terry Jogger
Everlane Perform Leggings
Baukjen Brooklyn Organic Jogger

On warmer days, I can get away with wearing leggings and on cooler days I wear super warm joggers. These Baukjen Joggers and they've been the best purchase I made over winter. They're high waisted, fleece lined, and incredibly cozy. They look smarter than sweatpants so can easily be worn as part of a 'proper' outfit. Otherwise the Everlane Perform Leggings are excellent for lounging in.

Basics

Organic Basics Socks
Birkenstock Slippers
Scarf

These Birkenstock slippers make for excellent house shoes.  If you have a need for a pair of hard-wearing slippers, I recommend them.  They're warm and comfy with soles that hold up and won't wear out after one season. I was also in dire need of updating my wardrobe basics: socks, tights, and underwear.
