A Week Of Sustainable Outfits: Late Summer

The plan was to share a week of sustainable outfits from my Summer capsule wardrobe.  Unfortunately, Summer didn't quite turn out as expected.  The outfits I'd planned to wear relied on it being much hotter than it was meaning I dipped into my all-seasons wardrobe more frequently than I usually would.

We're pre-lockdown in England, and I've been finding my feet with a personal style that's shifted somewhat due to changes in life and routines.  Now it's possible to go out and do things again, I'm eager to swap my practical clothing for something more styled.  Although I'm still very much an outfit repeater and will wear the same items multiple times a week, styled in a slightly different way.

This is what I've been wearing in late summer as we transition into a cooler autumn.  I'll be putting together a new Autumn capsule wardrobe soon, after doing an end-of-season wardrobe audit and update.

Outfit Details

  • Jumper from Everlane
  • Joggers from Everlane
  • Trench from Everlane (gifted)
  • Transit Bag from Everlane (gifted)
  • Sandals from Birkenstock
  • Necklace from Oh My Clumsy Heart

  • I wear a variation of this outfit every morning.  Maybe the jumper is thinner or the shoes are different.  Either way it basically looks the same.  I throw it on as soon as I wake up to take the dog out for a walk at 7am.  It's a simple outfit that's comfortable and practical to wear.  If I have chores to do or errands to run, I'll stay in this until I've completed them, otherwise I'll switch outfits.  I'll also wear this on lazy weekends.

    Outfit Details

  • Strapless Maxi Dress from Monki (second-hand)
  • Denim Jacket from Thought (gifted)
  • Sandals from Teva
  • Crossbody Bag from Everlane
  • Necklace from Oh My Clumsy Heart

  • When the weather's warm, a maxi dress is the ideal choice.  I purchased this strapless cotton one second-hand and have already worn it plenty.  If the temperature dips, it helps to have a jacket to wear over the top.  I've been enjoying adding a touch of colour to my usual all-black outfits with these Teva sandals.

    Outfit Details

  • Midi Dress from Linen Fox
  • Relaxed Cardigan from Saint + Sofia (gifted)
  • Shopper from Ellyla (gifted)
  • Sandals from Teva
  • Necklace from Oh My Clumsy Heart

  • This Linen Fox dress has been worn every single week since I bought it.  It's so versatile that it carries me through all seasons.  An oversized cardigan keeps it casual and, while I usually hate carrying a bag, a jute shopper is always useful for running errands or charity shopping.

    Outfit Details

  • Boxy Top from Muji
  • Strapless Maxi Dress from Monki (second-hand)
  • Trench from Everlane (gifted)
  • Sandals from Birkenstock
  • Necklace from Oh My Clumsy Heart
  • This is one of my favourite outfits to wear.  It's comfortable yet effortless, and all the layers keep the all-black outfit interesting.  I had these Birkenstock sandals resoled and it was money well spent.  I wear these tirelessly all throughout summer, and will shamelessly wear them with socks too in spring and autumn.

    Outfit Details

  • Funnel Neck Top from COS (second-hand)
  • Chinos from Everlane
  • Trench from Everlane (gifted)
  • Crossbody Bag from Everlane
  • Shoes from Dr. Martens
  • Earrings from Oh My Clumsy Heart

  • Keeping it really simple with this outfit.  A loose-fitting top over tapered chinos with a crossbody bag and sturdy shoes.  I find a classic trench and everyday jewellery always makes an outfit look smarter and feel more stylish even when you've made minimal effort.

    Outfit Details

  • Tiered Maxi Dress from Zara (second-hand)
  • Vintage Hat (second-hand)
  • Crossbody Bag from Everlane
  • Slides from Birkenstock (second-hand)
  • Necklace from Oh My Clumsy Heart

  • This is a typical hot summer's day outfit for me.  A breezy tiered maxi dress with a big floppy sun hat, slides, bag, and minimal jewellery.  Easy to wear and super summery.  The crossbody bag is roomy enough for all your essentials without weighing you down.  If I have to take a bag with me, this is the one I almost always choose.
