A Change To The Skin Care Routine

I've shaken things up a little bit in the skin care department; I've been loving my stripped back routine but when my precleanse facial oil run out, I decided to mix things up. I reintroduced a few oldies (but goodies) and have been trialing a couple of new products.

Catastrophe Cosmetic never fails to restore my complexion after it's been feeling clogged and congested. I apply this thick mask packed with blueberries, calamine and chamomile, rose, and almond oils, leaving it on for a good fifteen minutes. While the mask thickens and sets, it doesn't pull or crack and afterwards my skin feels soothed and restored.

I don't use micellar water for much other than removing stubborn make-up residue or for a super fast and effective way of removing a full face of make-up immediately, for days when I'm too tired and just want to crawl into bed. So while I find it useful, I'm not overly fussed on what brand I pick up; the Boots Botanics All Bright Micellar 3-in-1 Cleansing Solution wins bonus points, however, for being alcohol, soap, and fragrance free. I find it to be gentle on the skin and non-drying.

9 to 5 is a super cleanser, it's a total favourite of mine and each time I pick it back up, I wonder why I ever stopped using it. This milky cleanser is gentle on the skin; I sweep it over my face after cleansing with coconut oil and it leaves my complexion feeling soothed, softened, and hydrated.

It's been almost a year since I last used the Vichy Idealia Life Serum, which claims to repair damage caused through environmental pollution, overexposure to the sun, cigarette smoke, or an unbalanced diet. I've previously found this "repair serum" to boost my complexion, making it appear less drawn with a plumper, brighter appearance. I'm hoping to experience the same again; while I wouldn't say it's an absolute must-have skin care product, I do enjoy using it as part of my routine.

Paired with this I've been testing the Vichy Idealia Eyes. I'm not sold on eye creams, I mostly think they are pointless unless you have a specific condition that needs treating such as dryness or sensitivity. So I've been curious to see whether using Vichy Idealia Eyes would provide me with any benefit.. again, for me it's one of those unnecessary but nevertheless enjoyable treatments. The cool cream applied to the eye area is refreshing and soothing, helping me to feel that little bit more awake after my morning skin care routine.
