Autumn 2021 Style Inspiration

Autumn 2021 Style Inspiration

I want to start including my style inspiration for each new season to give you an idea of how I plan my outfits using my existing clothes. It helps me to avoid unnecessary purchases, and identify things my wardrobe really could benefit from.

The key things I'm noticing about my Autumn style mood board is the overarching relaxed, utilitarian style. I'm obviously being drawn to big chunky boots, long oversized coats, and touches of colour from bags, socks, and hats.

I can replicate all the outfits I pinned using my existing wardrobe. Although I've seen where I might benefit from seeking out a couple of (second-hand) items. These little elements have the power to make my all black outfits more interesting.

Different textures and layering are important too. In Autumn, playing with these will help elevate my go-to outfit formulas, making them more pleasing to wear and interesting to look at.

When picking inspiration for my style mood board, I paid attention to the key elements that kept popping up. I picked the outfits I knew I'd wear that were in keeping with my existing style. What we're inspired by isn't always what we'd wear, and that's where we can go wrong when making clothing purchases.

I know for a lot of people my wardrobe and subsequent style might be quite boring. I stick to all-black clothing, I repeat outfits a lot, and I wear the same items on rotation in my seasonal capsule wardrobes for years.

But I know what I like to wear, and one of my style goals is to wear as much of my wardrobe as often as possible for as many years as I'm able to. Creating these style mood boards and seasonal capsules help do that.
