Ten year ago I created Oh My Clumsy Heart. At the time, finding high quality jewellery that was affordable, made to last, and also eco-conscious was impossible to find. So I started making jewellery myself with the simple idea that fine jewellery shouldn't cost a fortune or the Earth.
After a couple of years, I quit my job to become a full time jeweller and freelance writer. Quite a lot has changed since then but my simple sustainable approach to business remains the same.
Oh My Clumsy Heart is still an independent, online-only jewellery brand. I've always prioritised fair pricing and sustainability without compromising on quality; making small batch jewellery from responsibly-sourced metals without traditional retail mark-ups.
Over the years, sustainability has increasingly become a top priority. I'm always looking for new ways to reduce the environmental impact of my small business. From the jewellery I make to the packaging I use; I minimise waste and reuse or recycle as much as possible. I've always used eco-friendly packaging and this year, I created a take-back programme for recycling jewellery.
In 2021, Oh My Clumsy Heart won the Best Responsibly-Made Plastic-Free Jewellery at the Global Green Business Awards. We also won Best Eco-Friendly Jewellery Packaging Company at Midlands Enterprise Awards 2022.
