A Week Of Sustainable Outfits: Autumn

Autumn really won me over this year. My local green spot, where I walk every day, was littered with leaves ankle deep. The colours of this season are stunning, and I've enjoyed this brief yet beautiful season. It didn't last long though. While we haven't had much rain, the temperatures have dropped and I've had to consider my Winter capsule options earlier than I would have liked.

Much of my Autumn wardrobe has been made redundant by the single digit temperatures. Although while I could, I've enjoyed wearing them. This is a selection of outfits I've worn throughout this short season. Mostly worn to work in my studio, or evening's out with friends (now that we can see people again!) Sustainable jewellery is what keeps an all-seasons wardrobe feeling interesting to me. Rotating through layering chains and stacking rings to update outfits through the seasons. On to the outfits...

I've really enjoyed wearing this Drape Trenchcoat. I'm sad it probably won't be worn again until late spring when the weather starts warming up again. The style is a classic while the fit is oversized, but not by much. It's become one of my favourite, and most worn, coats in my wardrobe. I've really been feeling loose layers. The combination of draping turtleneck with wide leg trousers really hits the spot for me. Paired with my favourite bag, and loafers.

  • Crop Cardigan from Boden (second-hand)
  • Satellite Necklace from Oh My Clumsy Heart
  • Maxi Skirt from MUJI
  • Double-Breasted Coat from Great Plains (old, gifted)
  • Loafers from Grenson (gifted)

A good cardigan is hard to find. Boden's old 'Favourite Crop Crew Cardigan' is perfect. I bought mine second-hand several years ago now, and it's still in great condition. Sadly they've discontinued the cropped cotton version, and only offer wool alternatives. Paired with a maxi skirt, double-breasted coat, and loafers; this is a smart yet comfortable outfit. Exactly what I look for in my wardrobe.

One of the best thrift purchases I've made was a maxi dress. This loose, full-length dress is super versatile and great for layering. I've been wearing it with a chunky cardigan to stay warm (this one is so cozy I don't need a coat) and a few simple accessories: a simple ball necklace and heart ring.

The easy chinos have become a staple part of my weekly outfits. Everlane are the only brand to make trousers that fit me, and these ones are perfect. With a loose-fitting top, cocoon coat, and classic shoes; this is one of those outfits that's just so easy to wear, and practical too. I pair it with the transit bag (of course) and simple jewellery.

A snake chain is one of those necklaces you put on and forget to take off. It looks great with everything, and is so lightweight you don't know it's there. I've been wearing mine to add a touch of delicacy to an otherwise quite clunky outfit, like this one. Oversized midi dress with chunky boots, and a draping trench. The arty tote bag helps too!

  • Moonstone Necklace from Oh My Clumsy Heart
  • Boxy Top from MUJI
  • Maxi Dress from Monki (second-hand)
  • Tote Bag from Jen Collins
  • Loafers from Grenson (gifted)

Another layered outfit. A boxy top over a maxi dress, and probably a trench coat. The devil is in the detail though, with tasselled loafers and minimal jewellery that make all the difference. The moonstone necklace has such a soft delicate appearance with an ever-so-subtle hint of pearlescence.

This is one of my favourite outfits from the season. Chunky boots, a little black dress, and classic jewellery. It's a true reflection of what I really enjoy wearing, and feel most comfortable in. The volume of the tiered dress and delicate jewellery paired with the distinct boots and tote bag. I like how it looks, and makes me feel.
